On May 17th 2008, NCCA hosted the Turrell Fund
in the Fellowship Hall as a way to thank them for their generous grant during
the 2007-2008 school year and also to launch the Turrell Fund Award for which
nine students were nominated.
Among the guests was Sonyia Woloshyn, Turrell
Fund Treasurer, The Honorable Mayor Sharon Robinson Briggs, several 2007-2007
NCCA alumni and NCCA family, students and friends.
Krystal Sonson
was selected as the 2007-2008 Turrell Fund Award winner for her outstanding
scholarship, behavioral standards and community service.
Brianna Johnson was awarded Honorable Mention
for her research essay. Both were rewarded with a visit to the Turrell
Fund. This special night also included
the ribbon cutting ceremony for NCCA's new Computer Lab, a special piano
selection by alumnus Queintard DeGeneste II, selections by the NCCA Choir, lead
by Donavon Soumas. |
